Obituary of Teresa Finamore

Teresa (nee Carnevale) Finamore, age 101, of Wayne, New Jersey died peacefully on October 9, 2016 at Saint Vincent's Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Cedar Grove, NJ. Teresa was born on November 14, 1914 in Paterson, NJ. She is the daughter of the late Alphonse and the late Ester (Calvano) Carnevale. Her mother died during the Spanish flu epidemic of 1918 and her father remarried to Angelina Deluca in 1920. She met Nicholas J. Finamore in her neighborhood in Paterson and in 1937 they were married. They had a son Nicholas R. in 1939 and a son Robert in 1940. In 1943 they went into business buying a diner on Belmont Avenue in Haledon, NJ. Near the end of World War II, her husband was drafted into the Army and she ran the diner with family members and her two sons. After he returned, they continued the business for many decades. Later she became owner/operator of Francine Fashions in Totowa and worked for Kearfott in Paterson. The family moved from Haledon to Wayne, NJ in 1958 and in 1982 Teresa relocated to Edward Sisco Village in Wayne where she resided until 2008. She was predeceased by her three brothers: Thomas, Frank and Alphonse. She has two sons: Nicholas R. Finamore and wife Marie and Robert A. Finamore and late wife Shirley. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Nicholas J. Finamore and wife Karyn, James Finamore and wife Patricia, Dina Marron and husband Tom, DeAnne Jones and husband Andrew, and Robert J. Finamore and his wife Patrice. She is also survived by her eight great grandchildren: Nicholas J. Finamore, Jr., Caroline Finamore, Kyle Finamore, Thomas (TJ) Marron, Robert Marron, Sarah Finamore, Sabrina Finamore, and Robert D. Finamore. A private family service will be held at the Calvary Cemetery Chapel on Friday, October 14, 2016. . .
