Obituary of Leonard E. Divak
Leonard E. Divak a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and esteemed veteran, passed away peacefully at the age of 90, leaving behind a legacy of love, service, and joy. His departure on March 28, 2024 has left a profound void in the hearts of all who knew him.
Born on May 30, 1933, Leonard lived a life marked by kindness, warmth, and unwavering dedication to his family and country. As a young man, he answered the call of duty, proudly serving in the Korean War as an aerial photographer. It was during this time that he discovered his innate talent and passion for photography, which would shape his future endeavors.
After his honorable discharge from the military, Leonard embarked on a remarkable journey, pursuing his passion for photography as a professional. With an artist's eye and a genuine love for capturing life's moments, he found success and fulfillment behind the lens. His photographs not only documented the world around him but also reflected his boundless optimism and zest for life.
In addition to his thriving career as a photographer, Leonard embraced the challenge of entrepreneurship, establishing himself as a respected building contractor for over four decades. His commitment to excellence, integrity, and hard work earned him the admiration and respect of colleagues and clients alike.
Yet, amidst his professional achievements, Leonard found his greatest joy in the loving embrace of his family. He shared a deep and abiding love with his wife, Elaine, whom he cherished above all else. Their partnership was a testament to devotion, built on a foundation of mutual respect, laughter, and unwavering support. Together, they embarked on countless adventures, exploring the world hand in hand and creating cherished memories that will endure for generations to come.
Throughout his life, Leonard found solace and strength in his devout faith, which sustained him through life's trials and triumphs. His unwavering belief in the power of love and the promise of eternity brought comfort to all who knew him.
Leonard’s gentle spirit, genuine smile, and kind heart touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his laughter, his love, and the countless lives he touched along his journey.
Leonard is predeceased by his loving wife, Elaine (née Tabaka), and his sisters, Dorothy and Eleanor. Leonard is survived by his beloved children, Doreen Allaghi and her husband Ervin, Denise Crawford and her husband Timothy, Leonard (Lenny) Divak, and Mark Divak and his wife Kathryn; grandchildren, Jay and his wife Brenna, Courtney and her husband Brian, Mackenzie and her husband Donald (DJ), Trevor, John (Jake), Kaila, and Allissa; great grandchildren Austin, Charlie, Parker, Logan, and Noa; and his cherished nephew Robert (Bobby) Krasowski and his wife Pat.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Most Blessed Sacrament Reconstruction fund, in honor of Leonard’s dedication to his beloved parish.
A celebration of Leonard’s life will be held on Tuesday, April 9th, 2024 with a memorial viewing at 10:00 a.m. and a Memorial Mass to follow at 10:30 a.m. at St. Elizabeth’s of Hungary R.C. Church, 700 Wyckoff Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ.
Though he may no longer walk beside us, Leonard’s spirit will continue to shine brightly, guiding us with his love and inspiring us to live each day with the same joy that defined his remarkable life. May he rest in peace, knowing that he was loved beyond measure and his legacy will endure for all time
