Obituary of Eugene Bartelo Catania

Eugene Bartelo Catania, age 81, of North Haledon died Monday, August 1, 2011 at Hospice Of New Jersey in Wayne, NJ. Eugene was born September 27, 1929 in Fair Lawn, NJ. Loving husband of Patricia Catania (nee Carbone). Loving father of Lisa Ann Catania. Devoted son of the late Ada and Frank Catania. Devoted brother of Philomena (Dolly) Gorga, Frank Catania and the late Jean Catania. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews and shared good times with all. Gene was the proprietor of Gene's Liquors in Paterson, NJ from 1972 to 2009. He was the long time president and great supporter of North Haledon U.N.I.C.O. He championed many causes to support families of children with life threatening diseases. He was a parishioner of The Cathedral of St. John The Baptist where he was instrumental in starting the Bartimaeus Family. Gene was a baseball coach in North Haledon and began the Stan Musial League in 1983 for North Haledon, He was a veteran of the United States Navy. Funeral from DeLuccia - Lozito Funeral Home, 265 Belmont Avenue, Haledon, NJ on Saturday at 9 AM. Funeral Liturgy at the Cathedral of St. John The Baptist R.C. Church in Paterson at 10 AM. Visiting on Thursday from 6-9 PM and Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Memorial gifts to the North Haledon U.N.I.C.O. would be appreciated.
