Obituary of Maria Sparano

MARIA SPARANO (nee Kosarewycz) passed away peacefully in her Wesley Chapel, FL home on March 20, 2021, at the age of 61.  She was born on April 7, 1959 to Michael and Olga Kosarewycz (nee Bilowus) in Staten Island, NY.  Maria was raised in Garfield, NJ, married her beloved husband Dave in 1986, moved to Hawthorne, NJ in 1990 and retired to Florida in 2020.  Maria graduated from Garfield High School in 1977 and received her BA from William Paterson University in 1981.  She had many interests including baking, photography, painting, pysanka, antiquing and especially caring for her pet cats.  Before retiring Maria was a clinical research coordinator with TKL Research in Fair Lawn, NJ.  She took great joy in spending time with her family.  Maria is survived by Dave, her husband of 34 years; her favorite sister Halyna Stegura and husband Michael; her brothers in law Joseph Sparano and wife Patty and Daniel Sparano and wife Deidre.  Maria took great pleasure spending anytime she could with her nine nieces and nephews: Teresa, Thomas, Christina, Katie, Michael, Mary, Brianna, Fiona, and Kendra.  Calling hours for friends and family will be held on Thursday from 3-7 PM at DeLuccia-Lozito Funeral Home, 265 Belmont Avenue, Haledon, NJ. Parastas at 3 PM. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held on Friday at 10 AM at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, 217 President Street, Passaic,NJ.  Interment,  Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Totowa, NJ.
