Obituary of Wanda Bakanauskas

Wanda Bakanauskas (nee Hauryluke), a loving, caring, kind, and generous wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away peacefully on December 4, 2020 at the age of 93. Born and raised in Paterson, Wanda lived in Paterson most of her adult life before relocating to Ridgewood, New Jersey.

In addition to raising seven children, Wanda worked full-time as a Court Reporter for several Superior Court Judges in the Passaic County Superior Court.

A wonderful and talented cook, Wanda derived special enjoyment from preparing festive holiday meals for the entire family. She was an award-winning baker as well.

Wanda was predeceased by her loving husband, Joseph Bakanauskas, Retired Deputy Chief of the Paterson Fire Department, four of her seven children, daughter Diane, and sons Vincent, Paul, and Joseph and brothers John and Frank and sister Anna Hauryluke. She is survived by her daughter Irene Turano and husband Richard, daughter Lorraine Polding and husband John, son Stephen and wife Annie; grandchildren Richard Turano and wife Nadia, Stephen Turano and wife Petra, and Laura Polding; great-grandchildren Taya, Stephan, and Anthony Turano; and niece and nephew Julie and John Hauryluke.

Private services will be held.
