Obituary of Elaine Asaro

Please share a memory of Elaine to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Elaine M. Asaro, 76, of Lake Ariel, PA passed away on Saturday, August 8, 2020.  She was born in Harrisburg, PA to the late Eugene and Nancy Bickerton. She grew up in Nutley, NJ where she met her soulmate Joseph of 60 years. They started a family in Nutley before moving to Wayne, NJ for 44 years. Over the last 4 years she loved the snowbird life, living in Lake Ariel PA during the summer but could not wait to spend the cold winters in sunny Singer Island, Florida.

Beloved wife of the late Joseph Asaro.  Devoted mother of Nancy Asaro and Lori Dring and her husband Paul.  Cherished grandmother of Amanda DeMauro and Casey and Jessica Dring.  Dear sister-in-law of Linda Morella (sp John Morella), Robert Asaro (sp Marie) and the late Thomas Asaro.  Aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Elaine was warmhearted, nurturing and cherished her family.  Devoted mother and grandmother, enjoying quality time with her family was her specialty.  She loved to keep up with everyone’slives and looked forward to her daily updates. If you did not call her with the details, you were sure to get a call from her.

Her signature was her fuchsia lipstick, manicured nails and not a hair out of place.  She was the epitome of elegance, poise, and grace.

Many great memories were created when she hosted family holidays over the years. Being a self-taught cook, also known as the “chef” of the family, she passed along her passion for cooking to Lori.  In Elaine’s later years, her specialty was making reservations, which Nancy learned best.

Her interests and passions included attending Sunday mass, Jazzercise, gardening to name a few.  She wanted to keep up with the times and taught herself how to text and communicate through her Facebook account, which is how she kept in touch with her treasured friends.

Elaine was charitable and gave to many causes that touched her heart, she has all the address stickers to prove it.

At the day’s end she loved watching the sunsets from the deck of the “lake house” and capturing the beauty by taking countless pictures.

She will be missed by all, but forever in our hearts, her sparkle will remain.

All services are private.  A Celebration of Elaine's life will be held at a later date.

Donations in honor of Elaine Asaro can be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Memorial Sloan Kettering, Breast Cancer.
