Obituary of William C. Cortese

William C. Cortese, age 61, of West Milford, NJ died Friday, March 4, 2011 at Chilton Memorial Hospital of Pompton Plains, NJ. William was born August 30, 1949 in Paterson, NJ. He is the son of the late William J. and the late Frances (Calabrese) Cortese. He grew up in Wayne, NJ and lived in Bloomingdale, NJ before moving to West Milford a year and a half ago. He served in the United States Air Force for 21 years where he was a fuel supervisor. He was honorably discharged in 1990 and attained the rank of Sergeant. He most recently worked at Cortese Pharmacy in Paterson. He is survived by his wife: Carol (Cofrancesco) Cortese, two daughters: Joyce Jones of Charleston, SC and Catherine Slingland of Garfield, NJ, a sister: Mary Ellen Bellucci of Rockaway, NJ and two brothers: Warren Cortese and his wife Mary of Wayne, NJ and Phillip Cortese and his wife Sue of Littleton, CO. He also has three grandchildren; Michael Burkett, Kelsey Burkett and Nathan Slingland and a great grandson; T.J. Burkett. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 9:30 am on Wednesday, March 9 at Our Lady Of The Valley R.C. Church, , Wayne, NJ. Entombmentl will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Totowa, NJ. Visiting hours will be Tuesday, March 8 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Eva's Village, Inc., 393 Main Street, Paterson, NJ 07501.
