Obituary of Lucia Bufardeci

Lucia "Lucy" Bufardeci, age 95 passed away in Wayne surrounded by her family. She was born in the Province of Benevento, Italy in the year 1912. The daughter of Giovanni and Teresa Saracco. She came to America at the age of 16 where her father settled the family in Paterson, NJ. She married Michael Bufardeci on November 20th, 1931 at St. Anthony's R.C. Church. They took up residence in Paterson then moved to North Haledon in 1952. The last few years of her life she resided in Wayne, NJ. As an avid seamstress she worked for Lewis Schneider and the Imperial Coat Co., she loved to garden, sew, cook and take care of everyone in need, especially her family. Lucia was a member of St. Gerard R.C. Church and St. Gerard Senior Citizens Club. Surviving are her son Carmen Bufardeci and his wife Henrietta, her daughters; Theresa Ferrito and her husband George and Grace DeBoer and her husband Sidney, nine grandchildren; Carmen, Steven and Kenneth Bufardeci, Carol Bradt, Diana and Maria Ferrito, David and Douglas DeBoer and Danielle Shortt. Also survived by 21 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchilren, her brother-in-law; Matthew Bufardeci and his wife Jessie and his sisters-in-law; Frances Sunday and Philomena Saracco and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Bufardeci was predeceased by her loving husband Michael in 1989, her parents, her sister; Rose DiLella, her brothers; Lewis, Pasquale, SEbastian, Philip and Michael Saracco. Funeral from DeLuccia - Lozito Funeral Home, 265 Belmont Avenue, Haledon, NJ on Friday at 10 AM. Funeral Liturgy at St. Gerard's R. C. Church, Paterson at 11 AM. Visiting on Thursday, 2-4 & 7-9 PM.
