Obituary of Joseph R. Zisa
It is with complete sadness that we say goodbye to Joseph “Joey” Zisa. Loving husband, father, grandfather, friend, barber, and musician to so many.
Joe’s life really began at the age of 12 when he devastatingly lost his mother to multiple sclerosis. Searching for comfort, he found a love of music and realized he was gifted with a special voice. In the 60’s, the band of brothers was formed, known as the “Emerald Experience”. The Emerald Experience would become one of the biggest bands for clubs, weddings and parties throughout the past five decades, and currently he was part of Jersey Dreamers.
Realizing he needed to have a steady income, he went to barber school and became the proud owner of the Hair Gallery on Union Blvd, in Paterson, and later in Wayne.
Joe met the love of his life Gloria Frances Polidoro in 1961 and they married in July of 1965. They moved to Wayne where they raised their two boys Ron and Tim.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria Frances, his son Ronald and his husband Michael, son Timothy and wife Erica, grandchildren Aidan and Matthew. His aunt Carmela Emond, his brother and sister-in-law Sal and Carol Polidoro, his niece Michele Russell and family, nephew Michael Polidoro and family, and his many dear cousins.
Joe wanted to be remembered for the fun, happy times he brought to each and everyone of you.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 15, 2025 at St. Gerard Majella R.C. Church, 501 West Broadway, Paterson, NJ from 4-8 PM.
A funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at St. Gerard Majella R.C, Church at 10 AM.
PLEASE, IN LIEU OF FLOWERS, MAKE DONATIONS TO THE Multiple Sclerosis Foundation.
