Biography

Karoly Farkas, age 88, of Haledon died Sunday, January 15, 2012 at Hospice Of New Jersey in Wayne, NJ. Karoly was born May 4, 1923 in Hungary. He is the son of the late Karoly and the late Gizella (Polgar) Farkas. He came to the United States in 1956 and setted in Paterson, NJ before moving to Haledon in 1962.

He was a self employed mason and the owner of Karoly Mason Works.

He is survived by his daughters: Marie Mbayed of Haledon, NJ, Antonia Herrmann of Haledon, NJ, Ilona Shami and her husband Dr. Joseph Shami of Totowa, NJ and his son: Charles Farkas of Haledon, NJ. He is also survived by his eight grandchildren and his six great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his wife Maria on January 1, 2012 and also by his one sister and four brothers in Hungary.

The Funeral Mass will be held 11:00 am on Tuesday, January 17 at St. Paul's R.C. Church, 286 Haledon Avenue, Prospect Park, NJ. Burial will be in Laurel Grove Cemetery, Totowa.

Visiting hours will be Tuesday, January 17 from 10 am - 11 am. Please omit flowers.
